When I see “new and improved” on any product packaging I always think, what was so wrong with the old one? And sure, sometimes those three little words represent an old marketing gimmick, but sometimes, things really do change. We think you’ll see we’re in that latter category around here at Delish HQ, with our beautiful new web site!
Consider this Delish 2.0
We wanted to start Delish, five issues back, and then go for long enough to really find out if people were going to “get us”. We hoped there would be enough women who would feel the same way we do (the we being Cynthia and Tamara, co-creators of Delish) — that the word homemaker isn’t a put-down but a very positive label that encompasses all we are interested in, and all we do out of love.
It’s sewing and knitting, it’s baking and cooking, it’s gardening and canning, it’s DIY and design, it’s health and wellness, it’s taking care of our family, and it’s making stuff, and making it with love. When we really thought about it, that’s what it all boiled down to. (You can see the new manifesto we put together to explain ourselves, if you click here.)
Not to go all Sally Field on you…
…but you like us, you really like us! (Gosh, thanks, she says, shyly staring at her shoes, rubbing her big toe into the floor…)
Delish Magazine is a labor of love but it’s also something we take very seriously. And we’re so glad that our readers think that our efforts are worth it.
We’ll tell you one thing – there’s a whole schwack of people we couldn’t do this without. Namely our husbands, and our contributors. Thank you to ALL of you for your support and your great work.
We’d like to invite you to grab a cup of tea, get comfy and poke around a little in our new digs. Open some doors, pull out some drawers. We have nothing to hide, and a lot to share! (You’ll see that the Tutorials & Freebies page is empty, but not for long. You’ll have to wait a little longer to see what’s in store over in our Etsy shop. And, please add your own photos to our Delish Projects flickr page…this is intended to become a space where our readers share what they’re working on with us and other like-minded folks…)
We want to thank the wonderful team over at S. Joy Studios. Sarah J. Bray and her team have been a delight to work with, and we love love love what they have done.
Please pop in again soon! We’ll be blogging on a regular basis, and we’re working on the Fall issue right now.
Live like you mean it,
Cynthia and Tamara
