Scout Vendors: Vintage Home and Westcoast Baby

Friday May 18th 2012, AT 6:00AM   3 Comments;

Delish Magazine is honored to be a sponsor of the upcoming Scout Handmade + Vintage Market! This fantastic event is brought to you by Rachel & Lily of Birch & Bird Vintage Home Interiors, the same dynamic duo who brought you the Fieldstone Vintage Market.

From now until May 25th, Delish will be bringing the sellers to our readers! Consider this a sneak peek to entice you to come to the market (make sure to say hi to us at the Delish General Store booth!), or an introduction to an amazing artisan, handcrafter or business for those of you who are not local to the Lower Mainland, or cannot make it out. Check back every day for new vendors!

Vintage Home

Owner/artisan: Colleen Sawatsky

What is the story behind your business?

We have been using antiques in our home forever…we collected before we where married… then it got out of hand (still is!) and I had to start finding other homes for pieces!

Where and when do you craft your goodies?

After we exhausted our friends we approached retail stores, and have a relationship with them still, providing one of a kind vintage items. We also have a booth at the Village Antique Mall in Fort Langley, B.C.

What will you be selling at Scout?

At Scout Market we will be showcasing our beautiful painted antique furniture pieces, mirrors, dishes, linens and collectables! Our colours range from white to turquoise and every shade of pink blue & grey!!

Why do you like these events?

The biggest reason I like these events is because they are a BLAST — we get to meet so many people who love the look of our product and the whole atmosphere of a market! Don’t get me wrong, it is a LOT of work! Our desire is to have LOTS of pretty things, and have a pleasing booth. We get to visit with amazing vendors & fellow bloggers make a huge effort to visit & support us! It is so much fun…the producers Lily & Rachel of Birch & Bird are wonderful, sweet kind & professional!

What is next for you, personally and professionally?

Personally, I am thankful for a healthy family and great friends. Professionally, I have met so many interesting and fascinating people. The bloggers I am in contact with are a source of constant inspiration and I am deeply motivated to be more creative whether in my blog or to stretch myself in design work and product!

Westcoast Baby

Owner/artisan: Amanda Moat and Nicole Vaslot

What is the story behind your business?

Our business started seven years ago when my second baby was one month old. My friend Amanda had also had her second baby who was six months old.

I found a lot of the newborn clothing just didn’t fit well. As well, there was a serious lack of modern accessories (burp clothes, bibs and blankets).

Where and when do you craft your goodies?

We now run the business from my home. Many of our products are made for us, as we simply could not keep up with the thousands of items needed every month.

Because we still have a love for creating and sewing we still make special items to sell on our online store and trade shows such as Scout Market.

What will you be selling at Scout?

We will have a variety of items for baby (including hats, blankets, burp cloths etc.) as well as some fantastic bamboo products for Mom (robes, pants and our new Cheeky Facecloths).

Why do you like these events?

I love the networking and meeting creative people. We also like to be able to meet with our customers in person, we always have a great time.

What is next for you, personally and professionally?

We are always thinking of new ideas, and boy do we have some great ones that we will be able to show in a few months time. Personally, I would like to spend more time
cooking healthy meals for my family.
